Alan  Kidd has been a lifelong educator. He started his career in Kununurra at the age of 20 and learnt more from his students than he should probably admit. From early in his career he questioned existing practice which seemed to be so often ridiculously ineffective. He is an advocate of “outside of the box” thinking and has a keen interest in identifying the motives behind educational decisions, student interactions and building staff capacity. He loves to ask the simple question, “why”, and look for the educational, social and moral imperative that unfolds, using this to re-think, re-plan and re-focus on what is important.....kids. He has spent his thirty seven year career creating effective school cultures with strong values based philosophies, positive, transparent communication and educational communities based on respect and care. Having worked all around Western Australia as a teacher and Principal, he has recently semi-retired and spends some of his time helping teachers and principals ask the hard questions.
